Stone Landscaping - Details & Definitions - Bryan TX College Station TX - Aggieland Grass & Stone

Natural stone is manufactured by the earth itself, making most stone unique to the region in which it is quarried.  Every slab of stone has characteristics distinctive to that particular stone ensuring an appearance that is truly one of a kind.  When using natural  stone, you can be assured your project will endure several lifetimes because of its durability and strength.  The variations of colors and textures contribute to a wealth of design ideas that will outlast any construction fad and withstand the test of time.  Whether you are building a home, retaining wall, patio, or just adding the beauty of a waterfall or boulder to your landscaping, we have the exceptional selection you desire.

We offer a variety of colors and sizes direct from quarries in Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Oklahoma.  We carry beautiful Texas Limestone, which comes in a variety of colors such as white, cream and rust.  We also carry Cave Limestone which is a very old stone that actually contains fossils.  Sandstone is usually formed in colors similar to those of the natural earth including reds, browns and yellows.

Moss Rock continues to be one of the favorites.  The natural lichens growing on these beautiful stones give projects the natural feel of having always been there.

Leuders Limestone is quarried from the Leuders Basin in Texas.  it is harder and denser than most other limestone types.  We sell all types of stone, and are always exploring new sources for natural stone.

Boulders never need to be watered, weeded or cared for.  In addition, rocks and boulders are an excellent natural compliment to surrounding vegetation.  The contrast in the landscape offered by boulders is always impressive.  We carry a large assortment of variety and size.

Chopped Stone - The edging is naturally broken at right angles, but none of the surfaces are smooth.  This stone cut is traditionally used as decorative facing material for both internal and external walls, specialty projects and retaining walls.

Sawn Stone - Sawn stone is very similar to chopped stone except it is cut precisely with a saw, rather than chopped.  Clients seeking complete uniformity of their stone often utilize the saw to cut the tops and bottoms to specific heights.

Flagstone - Flagstone is broken into irregular pieces by hammering the stone's natural veins, and the end result can have many sides.  It is commonly used in building exteriors, patios and retaining walls.

Thin Veneer - Thin veneer provides a thin product, creating an opportunity for more square feet within a house.  It is typically 3 quarters to 1.25 inches thick and can be used for both interior and exterior walls as well as specialty projects, including fireplaces.
